Fame

Fame, Montreal Hip Hop Artist

Fame's rap sheet

Hailing from Montreal's Little Burgundy, Fame grew up on the sounds of Bone Thugz-n-Harmony and Kriss Kross, later getting into the harder sounds of Jay-Z. His expressive and emotive style comes from his desire to rap about the world around him, and the people that are close to him. "I rap about life," he says. "The things that happen to me, the things that happen to other people. I like to talk about stuff I can relate to." Although already an accomplished artist who has toured across Canada, he is constantly seeking ways to push his music to another level. "I like to experiment. None of my records sound the same." Having hooked up with Hustle Cartel off the buzz of his self-produced mix tape, Fame is on the verge of breaking out as Canada's next huge name in rap. "On my next project, I've really found myself. When people ask who Fame is, that record will show them who I am."

T-Money

T-Money, Montreal Hip Hop Artist

T-Money's rap sheet

T-Money is an up and coming artist on the Hustle Cartel label, but hip-hop wasn't always his passion. In his youth, he spent more time on the football gridiron than writing rhymes. Once he got into artists like Ca$h Money, Young Jeezy and other rappers on BET, he started freestyling, and ended up collaborating with his brother Ace, CEO of Hustle Cartel. T-Money credits some unique sources for his inspiration, citing everyone from his family and God to Michael Jackson. "T-Money claims that despite his lyrical deftness, there is one message at the core of his music. "Stay in school. I'm young and I'm sayin it because people get attracted to some bad stuff, and it ain't necessary," he says. The Bucktown native explains that while he keeps it real, his music is about showing people there is more to life than the streets. "I came from the gutter, so I rap about my struggles, my everyday life, things I wanna do in the future."

P-Cheddar's rap sheet

Many rappers claim to have seen suffering and violence. Few of them can say they come from a place as violent as P Cheddar, who hails from Kigali, Rwanda, the notorious home of a 1994 genocide. Arriving in Canada when he was 8, P Cheddar was already a rap fan. "Even in Africa, I was listening to rap music, and when I got here, it was like, this is where rap music comes from," he says. Despite coming from a very different place geographically, P Cheddar says he was influenced by rappers who he could identify with. "I like rap that keeps it real," he says. "Jay-Z, Lil’Wayne – artists that came from the hood." P Cheddar elevates his rhymes by not succumbing to clichéd themes, instead rapping about his life, his dreams, and his ambitions. “I write about my everyday life," he explains. "What I dream about, what I want to accomplish."

Growing up in Lachine, Quebec, K-City was surrounded by the sounds of reggae, thanks to his Trinidadian family, before discovering the music of Snoop Dogg as he entered his teens. Snoop's music was a catalyst to K-City realizing he could express what was going on in his life through music. "Being from a single parent family, I respected that he had an outlet for these things going on around him," he says.
